Adrienne Fusek, San Diego, CA

💚 Adrienne has a professional background in adult education, training, and postsecondary international education. As a lecturer of Environmental Science and Sustainability at San Diego State University (SDSU), a Climate Fresk Local Ambassador, and a Carbon Literacy Trainer, she is adept at creating and delivering engaging climate education programs.

🤩 In 2022, Adrienne founded IGC (In Good Company), a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to building a critical mass of informed and engaged community members. Under her leadership, IGC provides accessible climate education aimed at driving justice-centered action. Her impactful local work earned her the 2024 Climate Leader Award from the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative.

👩🏻‍🏫 As a founding board member of the Climate Action Network for International Educators (CANIE), Adrienne was the lead author of the CANIE Accord, which guides the decarbonization of the field of international education. Signatories of the Accord include over 100 universities, professional associations, and peak bodies worldwide. Adrienne also wrote CANIE’s COP26 Glasgow Paper and co-led the creation of the Forum on Education Abroad guidelines aligning education abroad with the SDGs.

Adrienne studied in Querétaro, México while earning her BA from Cal Poly Humboldt and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bangladesh while earning her MA at SIT Graduate Institute. Her doctorate is from San Diego State University.
